This woman had given birth just the day before I took this photo. Carrying her new born child, she was walking back to her village, somewhere in the mountains of South-West Haiti. Some women need to hike up to 8 hours return, in order to visit the only health centre in the region that offers free maternal care.
Our world is going mad.
The last couple of weeks have been so intense for everyone, and it doesn’t seem it’ll be over anytime soon. I’m talking about the COVID-19 pandemic obviously, but not only.
Three weeks ago, I traveled to Haiti with @msfbelgique in order to document the different projects they run in the country. I won’t try to explain in this caption the extreme difficult and sensitive situation that Haiti is facing right now (please check out my Story Highlight if you’re interested - I think you should), but I’ll just say that this assignment changed my life and helped me put things in perspective.
Meeting up with a severe burnt from a Molotov cocktail attack, talking with a woman who had just given birth on the side of the road in the middle of the night, or listening to the testimony of a survivor of a shooting that killed 8 people really hits you hard. I spent 7 days in Haiti, and all of this happened just while I was there. This is what daily life is like in this country.
MSF runs different projects there (again, please check my Story Highlight to know more), and is currently having a charity event in Belgium, in order to collect donations for Haiti. This event was supposed to be a 75-hour video games marathon, live streamed on Twitch by some of the most famous gamers in FR/BEL. Because of the COVID19 crisis, Belgium govt decided to ban all sorts of events starting from tonight midnight. That means that the charity event has to stop after just 30 hours. As I’m writing this, they are getting close to 100,000€ donation for Haiti collected in just 26 hours, while last year’s edition collected 88,000€ in 75 hours!
It would honestly mean the world to me if you could help them out and give them a big boost before the event has to stop tonight, by donating just what you can afford.
Rest of caption in the comments section.

I’m excited to share with you some impressions from the tropics, all inspired by @Montblanc’s classic fragrance Legend.

These were taken throughout a period of 6 years in diverse places such as Thailand, Australia, India and Samoa. I don’t necessarily feel very much inspired when traveling to tropical regions. The lack of mountains and rough terrains, maybe. Yet, each year some unplanned events bring me back to these parts of the world where my body can rejuvenate. Whether it’s India’s Kerala - God’s own country as they say - or Australia’s Top End where I spent 4 months (oh, Darwin!), there is something about the tropics that makes me feel like home. I’m sure some of you can relate. Recently, I’ve just spent 3 weeks traveling across Thailand. A first for me despite the fact that this country is usually first on the list of any backpackers. I look forward to sharing more impressions from this country with you soon! In the meantime, I hope you’ll enjoy this little tropical break series.

Is it just me, or has 2020 been just a succession of bad news so far?
Truly hope February will start under better auspices.
To cheer everyone up, here’s a photo from an incredible moment spent exactly 2 years ago at @erindinamibia, when @fnventer and I followed this big male lion walking along the road. He was trying to return to his pride and was roaring every 3 minutes to communicate with the lionesses. Unforgettable moment!
I wish you all a happy year 2020 from the bottom of my heart. May the following weeks and months bring better news than what the first couple of weeks of this new decade have brought. And I’m obviously not talking about the #Megxit, that has pathetically grabbed all the media attention from all around the world. #Australia #Iran
I haven’t posted or shared anything here since the new year’s eve actually, despite the fact that I was traveling in Thailand and returned home last week. The recent world news really had me be down in the dumps and I didn’t feel like sharing anything that seemed completely inappropriate. I really wanted to take the time to ‘’digest’’ what I had seen/heard before sharing stuff about my time in Thailand, that no one actually cares about. It just didn’t feel right. I really appreciate the fact that some major players on this platform tried to raise awareness on what is going on in Australia, and are still using their voice in a meaningful way. Some have really helped in collecting funds, and I truly hope it made a big difference for the firefighters, the wildlife, and those who lost a lost during those tragic events.
But now what? I’m afraid that on social media, people move on fast and tend to forget quickly. The ‘’hype’’ around it seems to be gone, sadly. Who remembers the destructive Amazon fires that took place not even 5 months ago? Even though the Australian fires are decreasing, even if, somehow, they all get under control, the damages will stay. Forever. That’s why I think it’s still important to take actions.
A couple of weeks ago, my friend @jarradseng came up with that great idea to gather art work from many photographers: @artforfirerelief
100% of proceeds will go towards organisations at the forefront of the relief effort: Australian Red Cross, Wildlife Rescue NSW & Wildlife Victoria. These are organisations that still need our help on the long term, not only when a crisis is at its peak. More than $30,000 have been raised so far, thanks to the help of generous partners. If you guys feel like helping a little, please head over @artforfirerelief website bushfirerelief.org, and order an A3 size print from any of the 30+ phot
I’m excited to share with you some impressions from my last trip in Iceland, two months ago, all inspired by @Montblanc Fragrances Explorer.

These were taken during what I call the transition season in the Arctic. Late October, when the country slowly starts to embrace winter, and when the temperature instantly drops. I remember that evening spent alone on a beach of the Reykjanes peninsula. As the sun was setting and the waves were crashing on the rock formations, my hands were completely frozen because of the negative temperature and strong winds that I had to face. Yet, it was one of my favorite moments of 2019. Why? Because it was completely unplanned. I was driving along the coast during golden hour, and was looking for a nice spot to spend the last hour of daylight. The powerful waves on the horizon quickly caught my attention, and I decided to find a way to get closer to the ocean. When I left my car and started to walk towards the beach, all I remember was the strong gusts and the irresistible smell of that beach. Not that it was a particular one, but for some reason, I’ve associated the short time spent there with that smell. I’m sure some of you will relate. —
When I travel, I try to use all my senses as much as I can to create memories. Smell is undoubtedly one of the most important. If you like bergamot as much as I do, then give Montblanc Explorer a go for this holiday season :)
